Mary Shammas, a grandmother from Brooklyn, was on the bus when her left hand started to itch*. Remembering an old superstition that an itchy left palm signifies that money is coming, she decided to buy a lottery ticket. On that week's draw, her ticket won the $64 million jackpot. Mary, who has lung cancer, is giving the money to family. 'It's the best feeling in the world anyone could have, because I'd like to see them have a better life than I had', she says.
